Quest. 3. Compensation.

After what has been I have said above
Should it be the pleasure of that Committee to report in their opinion
that it is not now expedient to carry the plans my plan in question into
effect, and that it is right that under the circumstances of
the case that which is above suggested should be done for me, it will be their own
doing: and such respect will I suppose in the opinion
of Administration be regarded as so sufficient warrant for the
correspondent measure.

It is now above ten years that I have been in
possession of the ground little Estate in question, always making out of it
what I could, and without which, driven from my the home
that has been my own these 19 years and that of myself a
family that 46 years, my land must have been hard indeed.

After such a possession and that a legitimate one To be bereft of it now would be actual loss, not mere
failure of gain.

Annext to such possession was all along it is now
a condition viz. that in the Contract's being carried into execution
in other respects on the part of government, I should
do my part, and the instant there were any prisoners in
my possession, apply the periods pro tanto, whatever they were,
to the maintenance of such prisoners. But untill such prisoners
were put into my hands the performance of such such
conditions would be impossible. Under these circumstances should
I be called it happen to me (which I hope it will not) to
be called upon to account for the Rent and profit of that estate
for any such purpose as that of refunding them, I should declare
compliance, and if said in any Court of Judicature, the
Exchequer for example, cast myself upon the justice or
in Equity whatever be the proper name for it of the Court.
