Quest. 3. Compensation.

As to the loss to be compensation for, supposing compensation
proper it consists of the following particulars are contained in it.

1. The actual loss of the money so expended as above.
2. The loss of the the whole contingent profit, the expectation
of which constituted the inducement which led me to
embark so large a portion of my very moderate property,
contrary to to the dereliction of all former habits and dispositions, in
pursuit of it: viz. in the carrying on of a system of innovation
of which a short account is contained in any abovementioned
evidence.

3. My Brothers interest under his intended contract, as therein stated
and provided for viz. by the survivorship of it eventual survivorship on after my descease.

As to the loss of the commercial profit, supposing take any
one of the most fortunate adventurers in the lieu of mechanical
or /or commercial invention, to Sir Richard Arkwright, to Mr Bolton, or
to Mr Widgwood and suppose his to inventions system nipped
in the bud in the same way and he called upon to call for compensation.
Suppose him to have named but the half or the quarter
of what he afterwards released, what scorn what derision
would have been poured upon his castles in the air—his

Were it my intention to invite scorn, I would
mention the a sum that I would not have taken for my expected
share: chosen choosing rather wishing, if it be possible to keep clear of clear from
any all such aspersion, I have always forborn and ever
shall forbear to any sure in any such account any
sum sum whatever.
