Question 2. Terms
of present paper to settle by
☞ Add 1. consequence if insisted on
specifications
2. Difference between £1,000 & 700
Should it be be pressed upon me, and insisted upon (which I hope it will not be) that
I desired at present, and prev or antecedently to any Report made by the Committee
I should set about making the necessary enquiries and calculations,
this is what a task I should beg leave to decline, [and for the
following reasons.]
1. For the purpose of determining the l eligibility of the plan,
my any such translation of money into quondam into
of into this present quondam into new present money would not afford the Committee
any real information beyond what they would have it without already have without it.
est say the writers on the law (says the law maxim) quod artium :
and if there be any a case or any cases in to which the this
maxim is reasonably and truly applicable, surely, to my
humble apprehension at least, this is of the number.
Should it really be the contrary definitively to my hope, be the definitive determinate [of a majority] of
the Committee to insist upon my m setting about any such
calculation for the purpose of their report, such determination
could not in my own mind, I must confess, fall any thing
short of conclusive evidence that of a determination present or necessarily future, on the
part of the Committee to report it as their opinion that
"with respect to myself" ... "the whole should be relinquished".
The tro consumption of time and destruction of other
business would be certain to me: the without possible good
result, attended, I must confess from what I have already
seen and heard, attended with very little hope.
