Now then Sir, in addition to what I was
observing to Mr Long with regard to the improbability
of Administration's acceding to any proposal
for an adequate indemnification to me for the loss
of the spot that had been promised stood engaged to me, an improbability
grounded on the supposed impropriety
of any such arrangement on the part of the Administration, I will beg leave to
consider it with the regard to the propriety of the
part which I should have to act in such a business.
As to this matter Administration, Sir, are certainly the Judges
and in the first instance the sole judges of what may
be proper for them to justify admitt grant: but I, Sir, in my
humber sphere are a proper judge, and in the
first instance at any rate the sole judge (Mr Long
will not dispute it) of what it may be fit for me to
propose sue for.
Consider Be pleased, Sir Be pleased Sir, to consider for a
moment Sir to consider in what light such an arrangement transaction would shew itself to
what the world, and that not only to the discerning
part of it in general, and were even the candid part not excepted. would
find of such business.
