To Dundas

would I should hope flatter myself suffice. As to the proportions,
an equal distribution, or if there be any differences
be admitted, a gradation of douceur in proportion to the
gradations of public situation and fortune, might at
first sight to the most obvious one mode plan. But if
I might be permitted to advice, as the degree of force with
which the nuisance is repelled
abhorrence testified to the nuisance
abhorrence testified to the nuisance is, not in the
inverse, but in the inverse direct ratio of the vicinity distance
so should the quantum of douceur applied to
conquer that abhorrence surmount that force. consume conquer that abhorrence. And as to those the
persons who would be to have the nuisance under
their very noses, as they are unreasonable whimsical enough
to be fond of it, and are ready to declare themselves
so, since is to them it is no nuisance as it is no nuisance to them they
would have no pretension to draw upon diminish the fund
created for the benefit of their nicer neighbours. But I beg pardon for the contemporary applying so disrespectful an epithet as that of whimsical to such of individuals of the the gentlemen as have the undiscontented misfortune to be undiscontented, for, if I have not been misinformed, you Sir, according to your declarations as regarding to your declarations would as well as Mr Nepean would have been in their number of this latter the undiscontented party and you been in their place. Convinced
that under these circumstances, that nothing but the want of had they been all present to your record
having all the circumstances the large percentage convinced
that nothing but the importance to of such of
nothing but the importance of such of the gentlemen whom you can not avoid seeing,
and who have inevitable access to you in Parliament
or elsewhere, could have prevailed upon you
so much as to think of departing from an engagement
so deliberately entered into and so repeatedly confirmed,
or of allowing claims of exemption so deliberately
and unanimously disallowed by the 12 Judges
I can not I say help submitting to you, Sir, whether
the gentlemen with by whom a alone a complaint against the dispensations
of the law has been preferred ought are not to be the
first if any from whom if from any body a claim for indemnification should be called for.
