to reverence, your Lordships would at least not be forward
to run counter to, or to set aside, a decision, or if it were
only an opinion given by such authority under the special
appointment of the law. Greater impartiality, less
respect of persons, more decided preference of right to favour,
more firmness against undue influence, surely will not be
looked for elsewhere: not in the breast of any Minister,
not even in your Lordships Board (with respect be it spoken)
not even in his Majesty's Cabinet itself. Receiving
this spot as an unexceptionable one from the hands of the
12 Judges, certified as such after & notwithstanding the reclamations
of certain of the inhabitants to the contrary,
your Lordships will not surely set out, in person at least,
in quest of another spot, and that without having any
particular spot in view, without any other view than that
of avoiding the spot which has been approved of by
the 12 Judges. As little will your Lordships be disposed
to disperse yourselves for such a purpost, to pick up
what intelligence may be to be collected in your several
individual capacities, from this or that friend or dependent
at your individual Boards, or from this or that individual,
or from the friend or dependent of this or that
individual, whose wishes or apprehensions may interest
him in the choice. Still less will your Lordships think
of sending either of your Secretaries (it is not of the person
that your Memorialist speaks but of the situation)
still less will your Lordships think of deputing any person
from such an office, and that a single person, on so invidious
