Particulars
Of the Incidental Expences which may
attend the Purchase of a Spot of Ground for the proposed
Penitentiary Establishment
To consist of the Waste called Tothill Fields
with Lands in separate Ownership adjacent:
the quantity in the whole to be not less than 79 1/4 Acres (say 80)
£.s.d.
1. Inclosing, Fencing and Draining the 36 Acres
of Waste.
2. Making the Roads necessary in consequence of
the Division and Inclosure of the whole 56
Acres of Waste.
3. Purchase of the several Houses occupied with
the several portions of Land (chiefly Garden
Ground) proposed to be purchased. N.B. It is
not yet ascertained whether a separate charge
is to be made for the Houses, or whether the value
of them is included in the estimate of the value
of the Land.
4. Indemnity to the occupants of the several
pieces of Garden Ground for the loss of their
respective interests in the premises. (N.B.
It is believed they are all Tenants at Will.
5. Expence of removing the Five-Chimney Poor
House from its present site (the site of the intended
Penitentiary House) to another part of Tothill Fields.
N.B. It consists of 8 separate Tenements.
6. Indemnity to the occupants of the several
Tenements of the Five Chimney Poor House for
the inconvenience of removal, and in lieu of
lodging untill the new House can be erected
and made fit for their reception.
