Treasury, the Memorial of Jeremy Bentham Esquire
of Leinster Town in the County of Middlesex, and
of Queen's Square Place in the City of Westminster
inquire Humbly sheweth
That Your Memorialist by Deed of Appor

Humbly Sheweth

That for the purpose of carrying into execution undertaking setting on foot
the Penitentiary Establishment intended to be carried
on by Your Memorialist by contract with Your Lordships
Under the several Acts an Act
of the 34th year of his
Majesty's Reign Ch. 84
and the 40th year of intitled An Act for
his reign have for
erecting a Penitentiary
House or Houses for
confining and employing
Convicts,
and the the Act
of the 39th Year
of the said Reign

Chap 104 being the
General Appropriation Act,

it is become necessary to him humbly to
sollicit your Lordships decision the intimation notification of your Lordships' pleasure relative to divers
points hereinafter mentioned, upon the grounds and in the occurrence immediately
following, that is to say —

That Your Memorialist by Deed of Appointment
executed by Your Lordships in virtue of
the said Statute of the 34th Year of his Majesty's
Reign and dated the 10th day of October last
1799, was appointed Feoffee for the purpose of
treating for, purchasing and holding all and
singular the Lands Tenements and Hereditaments
then belonging to James Marquis of Salisbury at or
near Milbank Westminster to the containing
by estimation fifty three Acres two Roods and
fourteen Perches or thereabouts in the gross the same
being th in the said Deed of Appointment declared
to be in part of the Ground intended to be purchased
for the purpose of the said first-mentioned Act,
together with such other pieces or parts of Ground
as Your Lordships should find necessary and should approve
as fit and proper to be purchased for the said purpose of
the said Act.
