Beeing as he is acknowledged
to be for what
reasons J.B.
set aside and for
one who would be
affronted if thought
capable of bestowing
a thought upon any
thing but the salary
the architecture
and the patronage.

2.
J.B. had commissioned
his friends to give
up the contract with
all the profits, so the
faculty of trying
the experiment were
preserved to him.
His friends declined
the proposal as being
hopeless. Because
this would have put
an end to the job –
which was the sole
object of the business,
and would have thus
produced enmity
and perhaps ruin
to himself without
hope of benefit to the
public. p.1.
