25 Jany 1812

What is the intimation here meant to be conveyed?
that in the stile of argument the mode of reasoning employed
in those works or either of them that uses any
thing is considered any want of candour or security
and unbecoming levity? The works speak make answers for of themselves:
but a much shorter one answer and
of that sort which to the bulk of readers will be as much
more satisfactorily as it – shall be given from as
the words of that same most profound lawyer and two of
them most distinguished philanthropists the lawyer
viz Mr Justice Blackstone being it is supposed one
of themselves.

In return for a copy of the View of the Hard Labour
Bill, here follows a note from Mr Justice Blackstone.

On the subject of the latest of the two works being
in and for aught appear the the only one more spoken of by the worthy Baronet, and
for aught appears the only one that has ever been in his
hands, here follows an extract of a letter from Mr Eden now Lord
Auckland.
