Penitentiary Bill Amendments

I Amendment 1 Page 1 Supposed was to be omitted
II Amendment 2, Page 2, line 30 instead of four, insert two.
II Amendment 2 Page 2, l. 18 after shall insert
immediately after and upon the making of the Award
hereinafter mentioned, and payment of the money thereby
to be awarded.

N.B. March 1792 was the date of the Proposal as stated in Mr Benthams
evidence to printed in Report 20th of the Finance Committee of 1797-8, p.. 76, and by copy of the Report in his possession.
it is material to the purpose of the compensation that the true date be inserted.

4. Amendment 4, Page 3, line . Another rendering proposed
should the former be objected to.
4. Proposed form the 2d: to be employed proffered if necessary instead
of the above.

And to have transferred, and (with enlargements) adapted,
to the object of such preparations a an extensive system of mechanical
inventions works of the invention of his Brother Brigadier General
Samuel Bentham so whom the same were secured by divers patents and together with the capital therein employ
on which very considerable whereon a capital to a considerable
amount had been expended, from which owing to by reason of such
transference no advantage thereafter could nor can now
be reaped.

5. Amendment 5. Page 3, line 5. After "for", instead of
"loss of time and for his trouble" insert all loss and damage by him⊞ ⊞ Insert (23 Mar. 1812) and the said Samuel Bentham or either of them sustained by reason of the non-fulfilment
thereof.
