Preamble
34 Geo. 3.

A Bill for explaining and amending
an Act made in the 34th year of his present
Majesty intitled An Act
for erecting a Penitentiary House or Houses
for confining and employing Convicts.

Whereas by an Act made on the
seventh day of July one thousand seven
hundred and ninety four in the thirty
fourth year of the reign of his present
Majesty intitled "An Act for erecting
"a Penitentiary House or Houses for confining
"and employing Convicts" Power
is given to the Lord High Treasurer
or Commissioners of the Treasury for the
time being to cause to be erected a Penitentiary
House or Penitentiary Houses
for the purpose of confining and employing
transportable and other Convicts And for
that purpose to fix either upon a spot
composed of certain pieces of ground therein
mentioned and containing as therein
mentioned seventy nine Acres and one Road
or upon any other as proper and con-
venient
