Tothill Fields
As far as I haveif my information is correct, the
uses made of Tothill Fields at present are as follows:
1. The of a right of Com Pasteurage
appertaining in common to possessed without steal by every Housholder in the
two Parishes of St Margaret's & St John's: a right of
Common without theextending to all Cattle of and even Poultry
2. The exercise of A right of depositing Rubbish - existed in persons
of the same description subject to in each the designation
made by the Dean & Chapter, Bailiff or Field Keeper
as to the place particular spot in which the Rubbish
shall be deposited.
1. The inhabitants of St Margarets and St
John's exercise the right of depositing Rubbish in
any quantity, subject to the designation made by controul of the Dean
and Chapter's Bailiff or Field Keeper in resp as to the particular spot on which the Re deposit
shall be made, in the instance of each load.
2. The abov Inhabitants of these these above mentioned
populous and extensive Parishes exercise the right
of turning in all sorts of Cattle and Poultry with
out stint.
3. The Westminster Scholars, during a determinate
portion of the year make use of the ground for Cricket
No right of Turbary or any right of the exercise
of which any part of the Soil would be carried away isbelongs
possessed by anybody: and, under the authority of the Dean
and Chapter, every act of that tendency is carefullystudiously interdicted
prohibited interdicted.
