Compensation
Poor House
The compensation due to the Parish for their means
almost ruined Poor House, as well as to the Inhabitants
of it for the loss of such of their comfort as could not be
made to follow them to their new abodes, [+] would [+] this as well as the
quantum of compensation
in the former instance
be proper business matter of enquiry for Commissioners.
4—Lords Right
5 The Dean and Chapter, would according to
the practice in these cases, receive a minute
compensation for their unprofitable right. About
1/15 or 1/16, is I understand, is, in in case of division by Act of Parliament the proportion usually
allowed to the Lord upon the whole collective value of the
Waste. rights justified; proprietary rights. Whether to receive it in the form of a subject to be divided in
Annual payment, such as Rent charge, for instance a Rent charge payable
according to the price of corn, or in the shape
of a gross Sum (which in that case your Lordship
knows must be received for the benefit
of Successive) to be laid out, will rest with the pleasure of the
Dean and Chapter to determine. But the most
valuable part of their recompense will be the
honour andhonour and satisfaction of having co-operated with
Government in the performance foundation institution of a
a foundation establishment of so much importance to the public
service.
