III Experience
II. French Revolution

Radicalism not dangerous

In a word whether treatment of property or treatment of poor
be considered, in every thing/point but the multitude of the lower sacrificed the conduct of the lower orders of the people
at when in possession of superior power on the occasion in the French Revolution
would shew to advantage if compared with that
of the possessors of the the like supreme power in other European countries
in general and this of ours in particular.

None of these refinements these cold-blooded and
ever-ending refinements of barbarity and rapacity,
which have been observed and carried into effect by
English monarchs by the indiscriminality of their ever
ready nor instruments the lawyers. Subdued internal
enemies no worse treated than foreign enemies invaders commonly are would have
been: life destroyed put an end to/tormented but without corporal sufferance added
property taken, but of in the shape that sort only in which it offered no co
itself without research. No cutting up of men alive
tearing out their bowels before their faces: no no exposure
of hands and heads in public places. No universal
no confiscation of property in all its imaginable shapes. No
extension of punishment for the assumed guilty to the unquestionably
innocent no corruption of blood no incapacities
in respect of disposing of property by will, and
immediately giving to others as to himself the benefit of his
when required for the purposes of justice.

Under the French Revolution all the ingenuity and existence employed by
the lower orders when in possession of power and in the exercise of
self defence were had for its object applied to the lessening of human sacrifice
sufferance by divesting of its needless miseries that death what
self preservation was so much too hastily presumed to dictate. Witness
the Gestation: witness the udes. Under English matchless
Constitution — under English institutions all the contrivance employed has had for

for its object, the giving
to human suffering an
extension not prescribed
but proscribed by humanity
and justice.
Witness drawings and quarterings:
witness corruption of blood: witness incapacitation and for forfeitures attracted by lawyers to the word filary with its et cæteras in a train the comprehension of which of the man of law himself
the antient lawyer
and all this in abundance
who can lay on what proportion, even by the King Monarchy himself unproducible [ ]
[+] so well did his crockery and instruments and understood
how to gratify his purposes by appearing to the time
