of the termination of
democratic ascendency

omitted: the picture
would seem imperfect
the readers be disappointed

In speaking of the period short period of unexampled
felicity, as an exemplification and proof of the beneficial
tendency of democratic ascendency and its indispensable
instrument radical parliamentary reform, mention of the state
of things with by which it was immediately followed, and
what formed so perfect and lamentable a contrast with to
it, can not be altogether omitted. But though of by it all
had mention of it had been silence on this subject an omission of this
sort if compleat, a feeling if imperfection and disappointment expectation might have been disappointed
might have been produced, yet as this topic does
not in strictness form belong a part of the present design, the compass belief
within which the compass of the matter belonging to this topic can is
be compressed can scarcely be too short
