Radicalism not dangerous

III Experience
II Ireland

10 §.4. Golden age terminated

21
The Commons, whose
universal profligacy
was not less proclaimed
by Whigs than Peoplism,
who were passed by
Minister to Minister
not less easily than Soldiers
from Colonel to Colonel,
or Negroes from Whipper-in
to Whipper-in,
wanted nothing but a
resolution and address
to convert them into
the inflexible Guardians
of the matchless
Constitution. Whigs
joined with Tories in
congratulation for
escape from common
danger.

The House of Commons the corruption the compleat and
immediate profligacy of what had been admitted or rather proclaimed —
not less by Whigs than by peoplism that assembly
the great majority of whose Members at the word of command from the Castle passed over from an administration
passed over the next day to from one side of a question to its opposite with as much
regularity and strictness of obedience as a body regiment of soldiers passes
from the command of one colonel to that of another, were no wanted no
nothing but a resolution and address to convert them into the saviour
of the nation the inflexible and faithful Guardians of the
matchless constitution. Whigs and Tories joined in congratulations exultation
and thanksgiving [for the common dangers they had escaped.] for their escape
from the common danger.

Thus ended Golden
Age — follows Iron
one.

Thus ended the Golden age of Ireland.
Follows now the Iron one.
