Radicalism not dangerous §. Conclusion
(2) (2

The ruling few — neither can they, it is true, ut
destroy — utterly destroy — the property means of subsistence of the subject
many without destruction to themselves. But what
they can do is — materially, [cruelly and] and in an enormous unexampled inexorably]
and indefinitely encreasing degree be to injure it, and without any such destruction
to themselves. Thus accordingly is what for this
long time they have long been occupied in doing: this
to do has long been the object not only merely of their
wishes of their attempts endeavours but of their continually
successful endeavours. These endeavours they can not
avoid continuing so long as that superfluous and
excessive quantity of power is in their hands: in
a word so long as, over and above that power which
superiority of wealth without any addition of legal
power in the form of legal power can never fail to
bring with it confer, they possess any gr quantity of legal power
greater than is possessed by man for man by the subject
many. At that period, let it arrive when it
will, rulin the few and the many rich and poor drones and working bees will will for the first time have one connivance :
there will be no hostility of either against the other: there
will be no want deficiency/lack of security on either side: at till then
there will be no permanent security on either side. At
that period government will be on the same basis
in Europe as in America; in England as in the Anglo-American
United States. Phased directed the basis of universal
interest, seated on that base, government can never fail: it can
never so much as totter: it is not a pyramid. Placed in any other
bases
bases, it will continue be for ever
tottering it will continue keep
tottering as it
does at present, till
it falls: fall sooner
or later it can not fail
to do: and when it does
fall great will be the thereof.
