Characteristic (a) are such as are calculated by -Characteristic-
men's of some analogy to present to men's view in a lively
manner to the view of the idea of the offence.
These are all of them naturally ignominious:but by the
privacy of their infliction they may some of them be soften'd
into penitentiary. Some of them also are capital
and others again afflictive

There are 1. Hanging Strangulation. This is the punishment
