Murder by
Poison
Half-poisoning
The punishment of half-poisoning shall be
If a man commit a murder by poison, to the other
thus performed
punishments he may be liable to shall be added the following
1 The murder criminal shall be made to take poison if possible
the same sort of poison as that which was taken by the party murdered;
and in a quantity sufficient without relief to occasion his
death.
2. In this condition he shall continue a certain time, to
be appointed by the Judge, with the advice of Surgeons: after
which he shall be relieved.
If it should appear to the Judge, upon the advice of Surgeons,
it should appear to the Judge that by experiments made upon the body of the murderer offender criminal
with particular poisons, and with particular remedies to be employed
as antidotes against poisons, the knowledge of the
means of guarding against the effects of Poison might be
improved: whereby, through the suffering of this guilty person,
the innocent may be saved; it shall be lawful for the Judge
to order experiments to be tried to that effect: either determining
the
