Punishments

the Surgeon. This is the characteristic part of punishment of Murder, when committed intentionally by Poison.
Half-Starving
The punishment of Half-Starving shall be thus
performed.
When a murder of any kind is committed by starving
to the other punishments that may be due to it shall be added

Within the walls of the Black Prison, but exposed
to the view of passengers the offender shall be hung up in an iron cage for any
number of days not fewer than two nor more than seven: during
all which time food and drink shall be kept hung
up in his sight, but not within his reach: and any one
who during that time shall give him relief, unless by allowance
of the Judge shall be put in the place of the criminal
and suffer in the same manner for the same time. And
to notify this there shall be an inscription on the cage.
with other circumstances
of
cruelty
If a murder of any kind be attended with circumstances
of peculiar cruelty in addition to the other punishments
that may be due to it the Judge may cause the criminal
to suffer wholly or partly in the same manner (except that he
may not be) designed by put to death or disabled
or the Judge may upon advice of Surgeons order any experiments
to be made upon his body which shall appear likely to promote
