Of Punishments In General

Acute punishments,
what- Acute punishments are such whereof the pain would
be considerable though they were to last for even so short a
period of time, for instance a few minutes; such as whipping
and other simple afflictive punishments.
Chronical Punishments-
what- Chronical punishments are such as consist in the
offender's being subjected for some considerable length of
Time to some kind of restraint or constraint the inconvenience
whereof would not be considerable were it not
on account of its duration. Such as Imprisonment and
Banishment.
General limits of
Chronical Punishments Chronical Punishmetn where no particular term is
appointed shall never last longer than Five years.Convertible
