a. Gold an antiseptic indeed? O! most convenient
illusions! In the physical sense, yes: gold as
well as the other metals: in the moral and figurative
sense, quite the contrary. In addition to legal punishment,
one antiseptic, and no more than one, does
the nature of the case afford. This is the light of the
public eyes in so far as shown upon official operations.
Accordingly, throughout the Constitutional Code,
maximized is the application made of it to these same operations.
