32.
As for instance Gross (and palpable) falshoods in Mr Wilkes
Speech (of Octr. 31st, which appeared in the Public Advr. of this day Novr. 4th 1776)
1. That there are but 3 colonies not in
arms against his Majesty, viz. Canada, Nova
Scotia and "Florida". The two Floridas
tho' as distinct in their establishments as any
two Colonies whatsoever, because they luckily
happen to have one part of their name in common,
be chance to reckon as one.
2. That besides Canada one other of those three viz. Florida is a
Roman Catholic Colony. – When the Spaniards
gave up Florida, they left behind
them what? One single man. Qn.
how many Roman Catholics are there in W.
Florida.
Another head –
Pious wishes given under the
name (form) of prophecies.
Such as that G. Britain will never prevail, that
her armies will moulder away &c. The Rebels
set fire to the Towns & retire to the inland country.
Another head
Malicious insinuations.
N.B. The above meads might serve for standing Titles.
33.
When long-winded tedious epistles are offer'd, instead
of rejecting them altogether, an abridgment of them might
be inserted: and at the same time an offer made to
the Author to have it his epistle returned, that if he chooses to
see it at length he may offer it to another paper.
