And whereas the more effectually to
the investigation of justice it is a decisions it hath been a conscious
practice or device among the culpable and habitual thievery
of goods stolen or otherwise unlawfully obtained
to make colourable transfers of such goods from
hand to hand inasmuch in such manner that when one such
thiever hath been examined touching the
manner of his having come by any such
parcel of goods, he hath produced some
confederate of from whom
it hath frequently sometimes happened that the purchase
made if any such parcel of goods hath
been made not directly from the person by
whom the same were stolen or otherwise unlawful
obtained but from some confederate
who when examined upon being interrogated hath
refused or to give any account of the manner
in which he hath obtained the same.
