An exercise exercise action similar to in point of exercise to
that of rowing may be taken administered by giving motion
to through the medium of a winch to a wheel,
or rather to two wheels at once, the one worked by
the right hand, the other by the left. By the intervention
of what is called a fly wheel the effect of the exertion
is equalized throughout the circle described by the
hand in turning, and the po effective power of
the agent, as measured by the quantity of motion
he is capable of giving birth to in the course of the
days work very much encreased.

No exercise in which the arms bear a part
can exist, in which the fatigue is so small moderate
in proportion to the effect produced: or what comes
to the same thing in which the effect produced is
so considerable in proportion to the fatigue sustained.
By the interchange of the sitting with the standing
posture a considerable degree of relaxation may be
enjoyed. The two postures may even alternate
at different periods of the same round.

For the sake of mutual reciprocal relaxation this exercise
an exercise principally of the upper limbs hands and arms might alternate
with the exercise of Wheel-walking or that of
the sinking-stage, exercises purely of the inferior lower legs & feet
limbs. Many hours in a day it seems probable might probably be employ'd in
the two sorts of exercises thus taken in alternation, those in either
singly.
