Standing Orders of the Committee.
Mechanic's Institute.
By Laws of the Committee
1. The business at each weekly meeting shall be
transacted in the following order, vizt
1. The Minutes of the previous meeting shall be read,
for correction or confirmation as a faithful
record of the proceedings.
2. Any business arising immediately from those
Minutes shall be entertained unless otherwise
provided for.
3. The Secretary shall announce the particulars
of all money received since the previous
meeting as well as all donations of Books,
Apparatus &c and shall also particularize
his disbursements for the same period.
4. Reports from Sub-Committees shall be read
in the following order, vizt Sub Committee of
Accounts, Do Library, Do Apparatus, Do
House & Lecture Room, Do of Lectures, Do
of Schools, – Special Sub-Committees. Each of
these Reports may be disposed of immediately
after it has been read and received, or at
any subsequent period of the evening, but the
mere reception of a Report shall not imply
the adoption of any measure which it may
recommend; any such recommendation requiring
the sanction of a specific Resolution of the
