Another evil incident
to the proposed plan was that
it would increase the patronage in their
by profession, the independance of which
ought to be guarded as much as possible.
Without meaning to pay a foolish compliment
in which he himself might be supposed
to be included he was persuaded that
there was not a more honourable profession
in the world – but like every
other profession it was liable to an
undue bias – and it was a great public
object that its d independance should

It might perhaps be said that the
Report of the Committee of Lords rendered
it unnecessary to press any for their inquiry.
