of this new jurisdiction. They would
have an additional judge to give his
opinion upon the case in its progress
but the final decision would be
more distant than ever. Such a plan,
he was convinced, was least of all
calculated to get rid of the difficulty –
or to promote the object, in view –
namely – the obtaining with facility
and expedition the final hearing and
decree of the Chancellor. his In
his opinion the dispatch of business in
the Court of Chancery depended very
much on the Chancellor himself. If
the Chancellor was of a constitution of
mind that led to quick decision the
business of the Court would be done –
if he did not possess that important
qualification in a Judge the business
would necessarily fall into arrear.
Whether the present Chancellor was
of that constitution of mind that
led to prompt decision he would
leave to others to determine – but he
confessed he should like to see a
