the judge recovered the arrear had
been speedily brought up and matters
placed in their former condition
though no doubt with a temporary additional
labour to the judge himself. Even from
this last circumstance he was
convinced that this was a temporary
evil to be met by a temporary remedy –
and that no parliamentary regulation
would do good but on the contrary
no increase the evil. Nothing therefore,
in his apprehension, could be more
unfair than to propose to pass a
bill on a y subject of so much
importance at so late a period
of the session and yet refuse
the appointment of a committee
to make the inquiries necessary
for the information of the house. He should therefore support
the motion.
