had in reality increased – and that
accounted for it from a variation
in practice by which the opinion of
the judge was taken on motion
instead of the former mode of taking
directly on the cause itself. – Neither
had he stated the increased property
in the Court of Chancery as a necessary
cause of delay – nor that the growing
opulence of the country produced delay
in the stages progressive stages of any
particular cause – but that the
increased wealth of the country
being distributed amongst a greater
variety of hands augmented the business
as by producing a greater number of
suits.
Mr Ponsonby in explanation. The increase
of motions though therefore
apparently business was no real
and substantial business of the
Court of Chancery. This It arose merely
out of the delay in hearing the
causes themselves.
Mr Wilson. He had said He
confessed he had not made up his mind
on this important question – but he saw
no reason for entering upon the discussion
