be speedily removed. – It was there
impossible for the house conscientiously to decide
upon a present question of this magnitude
with no more information
than what was to be found in this
report. When the Bill came down
to them they could only move
for further information – and why
then should they delay doing that
which must sometime be done. It
was in every view expedient therefore
that this committee should be
appointed without loss of time. After
adverting briefly to the most expedient
rules with respect to the printing
of appeal cases – and complimenting
Lord Hardwicke on the expedition
dispatch which he used and the
number of important points in
the law of Scotland which he
had decided he concluded by
observing that unless an inquiry
into the causes of the delays in
the house of Lords should be
granted he should move to must consider
whether it would not be his duty
to advise the parties delayed to petition
