There is Much information might be given by the
government which it could not so to would readily
give but which it could not well give at its
own instance: inasmuch as it could not originate
speculative enquiries.

Methodized returns obtained in consequence of such
application would save much in returns called for
irregularly and at times when they are often
productive of much inconvenience.

For example correct returns of the regular amount
of the precious metals imported and exported would
save much inconvenience alarm and false speculation.
at present when the demand I Regular
returns would shew the real position of the country
as the entree pot for the precious metals and
arrest the extravagant notions and theories
extensively prevalent. At when Whenever the demand
for gold from abroad happens to be considerable
and that the quantity exported is noticed: no
account being taken of the amount
quantity of gold imported: or of the am ordinary
traffic in the precious metals a belief
is from time to time spread that there is a drain
of them and all sorts of consequences are predicated
as being likely to happen from this cause. The

made of such partial information.

On the subject of the system such information

classes with sinister interests who create popular
clamours in their favour there being no individual
who has any special interest in app rebutting
their claims or in expounding the principles
opposed to them. A society may in this way
accomplish much that to individuals would
be impracticable.
