Prospectus of the Universalist(2) 4

Serving the

Serving the interest of the many is the very motive to which
the undertaking owes its burthen and to this impartiality the
Universalist looks as one of the means of giving effect to it.
Honesty is a quality which every honest man delights to
see in others: honesty in dealers is honest dealers see
honest on their parts one of the most effectual recommendations
they have to customers.

Yes, to customers: for the closer and more attentively he
looks into this undertaking of his, the higher and more
sanguine are his expectations of profit from it in a pecuniary
shape: though it was not in any such expectation that
it took its rise.

By not more than one Newspaper does it happen to to
him to have seen impartiality in this sense either
practised or so much as professed: and by that he has observed it to
be practised without having observed it to be professed: the exits
on
a tribute of acknowledgement paid is the by name to that one paper
that it to the exclusion of all others would be at once
invidious and needless.
