Fallacies in debate

13

Now as to matter which may in some sort be stated
stated as being peculiar to the Universalist: by the existing daily
newspapers being given either not at all, or if given, given out casually and without any approach
to regularity.

1. Fallacies in debate. The To most readers as well
as writers of Newspapers, the information given brought to light by Mr ,
but whole whatsoever have been the subjects of
public debates, by none of the publishers has that advantage
has yet been made which is capable of being made, been as yet
made. This gap the Universalist will take the requisite
measures for filling up: and accordingly at the bottom of each
the several columns in which the Debates are inserted subjoin
the denomination by which the several fallacious arguments there
employed are designated. What to the judgment of the reader
assistance is afforded by indication given of the particular matter
which at each point of time has actually come into existence
and made its appearance, a powerful prevention will thus
be applied to whatsoever matter of this kind is capable
of coming into existence – a powerful prevention, and the only
one which the nature of the case admitts the application
of. What a saving of time will not this
this instrument effect in the time of popular assemblies:
the greater the quantity of that maleficent matter
kept out, the greater the quantity of room left into which
beneficent matter will find its way: the greater quantity of
uninteresting and wearisome matter kept out, the greater the
quantity of interesting let in: the greater quantity of time
then kept from being consumed in waste, the greater will be the
quantity of delay saved, the dispatch given – to useful
measures of all kinds in all places and all times.
