Universalist
Bo
§.1. advantages
It is proposed to establish a daily morning Newspaper
possessing attractions superior to any that are at
this moment in the field of competition.
Qualities of
Universlist's information
1. Peculiarity
First, by the introduction of information from
sources unexplored by or inaccessible to the now-existing
Newspapers. At a time when almost all the countries of
Europe are agitated by political discussions the Newspapers
of France and Germany are almost the only fountains
of knowledge. The proceedings even of the National
Assemblies obtain no notice in our Journals - 1 The
Diet of Hungary:,2 the Chambers of Sweden,3 the Storthing
of Norway,4 the States General of Holland, 5 the Senate of
Poland, meet, - and even the most important of
their proceedings - such as change the whole political
arrangements of society - are seldom or never reported
to us. Even in a country so near to us as Germany
extraordinary constitutional alterations have been introduced
by wholly unnoticed. It is desirable not only to gather up
all the political facts as they occur, but from time to time
to exhibit such collected data as would show the political
development of nations
