Eighthly – To the Literature of the day
much attention would be devoted. The
profligacy and venality of the daily
press are almost beyond credibility –
and these perhaps are even exceeded
by the flippancy and ignorance with
which "New Books" are spoken of
by the Newspapers which profess to
give Literary notices.
