Mean time It has however been a mortifying tantalising circumstance
to me to see every day in the study of my
friend Mr L. the proposed code of new Code of laws proposed for
Poland without being in having a condition to profit by
the contents. A work composed by a man whose
virtues are do an honour to human nature, and
sanctioned, if I am not misinformed by the approbation
of your Majesty⊞ ⊞ a work an original which isi the result of the matured freshest wisdom of in the best heads in a respectable nature which has bought so much experience and at so dear a price could not but be highly
instructive as well as interesting to a any man
who studies the art of legislation with a view jurisprudence the science with no other view
than the hope of contributing to the improvement of the art. to its improvement. I hear indeed of a translation
in German and of another in French: but
I have not yet been fortunate enough to meet with
either.

Your Majesty's is not by many indeed the only throne
(by a good many) which this book has the temerity to approach:
but it is the only one out of England from which a an English book written
can be sure of meeting with strict exact and ample
justice.
