I take without your leave or even knowledge
the liberty of prefixing your proforma name to this performance. gracing this performance with your name.
When I begun putting together these sheets
I little thought then to see them prepared with a dedication
at the head of them; not knowing any Great man whose
liberty livery I could wish to swear. On This address
however if there be any flattery it certainly does at least it will not be easy to fix a charge of flattery:
not come arise from the usual source; for, your esteem excepted,
I am not in want of any thing which as
far as I can learn it is in your power to give
