J. B. for Henderson to Gullet
To be copied close in the manner of a letter upon
common writing paper of the size of this
Sir
My most intimate and much respected friend
Mr Logan Henderson being on the point of
setting out for the continent to take possession
of the appointment which I believe you know of, & which I had the good fortune
to prevail on him to accept, he is in consequence
liable to be summoned away at an hour's warning,
and in the mean while every moment he can muster
is so taken up by the necessary preparations for
his departure, as to make it absolutely necessary
should discharge his time and his thoughts
of every other business. I have accordingly persuaded
him to turn over to me every part of it in which
he thought I could be of any use to him, and
in consequence have got in my possession your
last letter dated the 9th instant, together with
the entire sense of the correspondence to which that
letter was designed to close. Whatever may have
been his sentiments upon the receipt of it, my own
I must confess were tinctured with no small degree
of disappointment and surprize. Turn
back your reflection thoughts, Sir, though it were but for a
moment, to the nature and write frequency and duration
