Defence of Economy
With a mode of collecting and extracting evidence thus
admirably adapted to the suppression and giving success
as well as encouragement to falshood and throughout falshood
to injust injustice in the shape of misdecision
in that shape in which it stands opposed to the direct
ends of justice, is combined a system of procedure
equally well adapted to the raising to the highest pitch
of perfection the evils the that stand opposed correspondent and opposite
to the collateral ends of justice, viz. the evils of factitious
and unnecessary delay vexation and expence.
Take for example the Proctor's Bill abovementioned.
Upon the face of it no there seems to have been no real
dispute, there being no hope of success from dispute in
the case. The total charge is upwards a of £59, within a
few shillings of £60 the Proctors own share above a third of it.⊞ ⊞ Proctor's own share upwards of £20. To all appearance there could
have been no work either for head or hand beyond what
such such as would have found an ample recompense
no less than as many shillings.
