Defence
Hopeless indeed would be lot of that man be generally universally
thought to be, who in the management of any his pecuniary in any other shape – profits of trade
rent or profits of land, found himself in the at the mercy under the obligation
of operating by hands that were not of his
choice, of by trustees in which he put no trust.
In no other case does royal donation saddle the
donee with the encumbrance of royal agents. A lessee of Crown Lands
in which trespass has been committed is not at does
not find himself thus at the mercy of the any Crown Lawyers.
For the management conduct of the cause his own suit he appoints his own
Attorney, and for pleading in it the Counsel whom
his own Attorney recommends to him as most competent
regardless whether they be or be not of the number of
those above around whose persons the Royal favour has shed the lustre of
the silk robes.
