Prize Acts 1805 1809
How many of those Vice Admiralty Courts there are
in existence, and in what places they are respectively
stationed is what I have not been able to discover.
No number made of it such list is to be found in
any of the Acts, in any the Collection of the published collection of the Orders in
Council, of in the published Reports of cases determined
in Prizes causes.† † ☞ consult Red Book & Finance Reports. But without the advantage
of possessing any such list what may be pronounced
with full some assurance is that reckoning from
Greenwich Hospital those places are not, all of them
at the same distance. By §. 80 When the condemnation has taken place in England Four months is the
interval appointed for this same business: remains
a species of While that clause Section was penning Four moths therefore would however
have been deemed an interval too great to be allowed
for the same business in a judicatory less happily
situated less ably conducted: remains a space of
two months for the dispatch conveyance of the needful
as above, by voyage of all the lengths the longest
as well as shortest voyage: an East Indies Voyage
as will immediately be seen alone excepted.
"Provided always" says a concluding clause in
the same Section. Provided always, that if the condemnation
of any such prize shall have passed in the
East Indies, then the Agent shall cause to the same
to be remitted, so as that the same may be paid to
the Treasurer within twel twelve months what be after after the verifying
such Account as aforesaid".
