Prizes 1805 1809 §. 7, 9 §. 7
In Section 7 what is enacted is that in any of
the cases there described, if, within the term and in the
manner required by the consolidating Act (it might
have added and this Act† † Examine, if so.) "distribution has not been
"made, the Officer for Prizes in the Office of Treasurer
"of the Navy shall state such failure to the Treasurer
"of the Navy, who shall thereupon apply to the High
"Court of Admiralty, for a Munition" (meaning
"a ) or such other process of the Court as
"may be expedient under the circumstances of the case
"for compelling a speedy and effectual distribution of
"the proceeds".
As to the demand in point of utility for the institution of this Office,
and the shape given to the remuneration employed in quantity of the matter of reward
applied to the purpose of engaging a proper person
deemed proper to charge himself with the duties of it,
together with the other receiver employed to secure on
his part the fulfilment of those duties – these are
enquiries topics that will find their place under another
head.
What belongs to the present head is to enquire
into the aptitude of the arrangements of a
legislative nature employed in the endeavour to produce
secure the attainment accomplishment of the object thus pursued, and
the expressions employed in the designation description of them those arrangements.
