If under the third remaining branch of the alternative the
proceeds be (the whole of the proceeds be) remitted "to such
persons in England as the Captors shall appoint under the
direction of the Court, for the purpose of being distributed
In England, still the same difficulty, still the same
abandonment of the general standing former policy attaches upon the import
of this clause: if a any part distributed in England? so
then must the whole be: to a for the Hospital remains nothing.
Suppose the first or employed put by inadvertence
instead of the word and by this supposition would the
difficulty be removed? No. Not unless if the supposition
were to stop here. Security say shall be given .... for the
faithful distribution of the proceeds, and for the remitting
(the residuum) thereof to the Treasurer of Greenwich Hospital
....: so far so good in the words supposition that the words
the residuum or something equivalent to them had been
remitted through inadvertence. But neither would at
this prize can considering intelligibility and consistency
be conferred on upon this chaos this dark mass: for then in
of the last of the two ors comes the senseless option
between forwarding the or undistributable residuum its proper distinction to Greenwich
Hospital, and the f vesting it in the hands of
individuals in England, and for what purpose? for no other than their performing
upon it the very operation viz distribution which
by the supposition it is incapable of undergoing, such
part of the proceeds as were capable of undergoing it anywhere
having already undergone it in the foreign station
in question, whatsoever it may have been.
