Nomography. Prize Acts 1805 1809

Secti Act of 1805, Section 95.

In this Section a description is undertaken to be given of
the mode in which payment shares each share of prize
money due to individuals an individual is to be made – to
whom? to the individual alone to whom it is due? no one man but to any
representative of his being such during his life or to any no one but a
representative of his being such after his decease? or
to an of the three persons so circumstanced to a person indifferently to a person in any one of these
the three situations thus described?

Unfortunately To no one of these three cases will the pro
language be found uniformly adequate much less to all three.
Sometimes In one part At one time it is to live another of these and a
two or all three appear to have been in view: at
another part only one.

To include At the outset and for some time there appears to have been
an endeavour to include two of them or perhaps
all three, viz. the principal and his representatives of both kinds: But by the time he has reached
his line the exercise strength of the draughtsmans
mind fail him, the representatives slip have slipt out of his grasp,
and it is to the principal alone that the operations
as described, are capable of being applied.

Thus it is that after all of the three sorts
of persons be the case of every one of which provision
required to be made, there is but one it is but to the case of one alone, viz the
that the if the lines of the law were to be pursued the such system of operations here chalked out would be found applicable of one alone, viz the principal (i.e. viz the individual by whom the service
for which reward is thus claimed was rendered) that
the such system of operations chalked out will, if the
tenor of the law be pursued be found applicable.
