6 Jany 1811
Could he in his strictness have prevailed upon himself
to take up with a pair of corresponding instruments
such as the funds for example in a Lease and Release,
those he might have without difficulty have framed,
and so far as concerns the essential part of the Bill
viz the order which it imparts, of this part, could if
there no much of duplication would have satisfied him he have contented himself with this part, he might
have had duplicates.
In the case of Bills of Exchange these instruments or orders for payment of money
of which then sent from any one country to a foreign
one, all exemptions more than one are for
security sake made to guard against incidents commonly
transmitted those exemptions are according
to the number of them commonly called duplicates,
or triplicates and so on. But excepting that difference
of designation which is necessary to the distinguishing
of each one of those individual objects from
the rest no other difference is ever found. If to
any one were annext a condition or an
address which is not addressed to this or that other if
none no person would think of stiling them with
reference to each other duplicates.
