Prize 1805 1809: 1805 §. 100

Section 100 In this Section the persons taken into consideration being every "person paying any Share
"or balances of prize money remitted from Greenwich
"Hospital", a provision is made, inhibiting them
from the acceptance of fees on the occasion of that
business: no such person (it says) "shall receive any
"free, gratuity, or reward, from or on account of any
payment thereof, or of any Act, Matter, or Thing done,
relating to the procuring or paying the same to any
Claimant, or any person on his behalf, under any
pretence whatever:.... Penalty, £100.

By a Right Honourable Gentleman, whose anxiety apprehension
of seeing not to see have official service insufficiently remunerated
much more less unremunerated, and whose opinion
that in general such insufficiency not excess of remuneration
is the prevailing evil, stand recorded in such
pointed terms,† † Observations &c. it can never have been seriously entertained
that these labourers in the Royal at
Greenwich, so nearly intimately connected as they are
with that on the higher ground in Somerset Place
should go altogether without them here: accordingly
to prevent any such inconvenience care is taken in
another Section that has been will be seen care has been taken
to commit to the liberality of those great and superiors under
whose direction they act (viz the Commissioners and
Governors of the said Hospital) this necessary task duty.
