quadrate is that seaman do not calculate: whereupon
some in disguise in the virtue of thoughtlessness, when
the bosom of the defender of the country is the field season in
which it displays acts itself.

1. One The answer is may be given and that in the same stile of
indiscriminating wisdom of that species of wisdom
which disdains discrimination.

Those are Look round the empire you will find those that do not, but you will find
others that do calculate. There is the your Scotchman that
always calculates: there is Your Irishman who never scorns
calculates: and between them stands your Englishman who
sometimes calculates and sometimes does not.

2. Another answer is – that if in this generous and honorable
profession there is nobody that calculates, then of the
wisdom that has to in our theatre of legislation has
been expended upon this subject, no small part is
mere folly. For in that those fruit of constituted and consolidating wisdom which bears for its title lines the that Statute of the 45th G. 3. c. if all those anxious and careful
clauses which occupy themselves in bestowing
money in the shape of reward upon one or other of the two branches
of the military profession, the aqueous and the terrine,
there is not one of which in some proportion or other the
talent of calculation is not supposed to be in the possession of
those whose existence it proposed to itself to call forth,
and give lead into
that direction which
upon the whole should
in the most advantageous
mode and degree possible
be conducive to the public
service.
