38. Of the matter to which it may be convenient to give mention in
the Civil Code and to which accordingly mention is given in it is
of two different sorts: one which may be stiled the directive as above; the other
the expositive.
To the directive belongs that sort of matter of which makes
that name, mention has been already made: the directive, without the
addition of the sanctinative, and in particular the punitive.
Not that the without the addition of the sanctinative sanctinative
the directive could in general, without absurdity, be trusted
to: of the a correspondent punitive in the necessary eventual punishment and
including when applicable satisfaction: could be trusted to all along assumed
it must thereby be that in case of non compliance punishment and satisfaction will be administered.
